These are part of an army I painted a very long time ago. They are Foundry late Romans. I did them before there were nice shield transfers. They are very nice figures.
The legions are painted to depict the Ioviani and the Herculiani, the two most senior legions or something like that. It’s been so long, I don’t really remember the details.
I have sometimes thought about doing more but every time I think about it I get stuck thinking about painting the shields by hand, which is a lot of work, or using transfers, which will maybe make the hand painted ones not look so good, and so this is it.
I have a bunch of other stuff in the army, including a bunch of auxilia also with hand painted shields. Maybe I’ll photograph them also some time.
Update: I’ve sold the purple regular looking unit and the general went with it. I’m offering the two remaining units at a reduced price of $60 per unit and I’ll pay postage in the US.
Here is some painted stuff I’m selling. There are 36 Parthian cataphracts and 2 for a general stand. The figures are Old Glory 28mm. The figures on the general stand have both lost their weapon, and one has lost a hand as well. I’ll just include that stand with whoever buys the first lot from this group. They are all based on dbm sized bases.
I’ll sell them in groups of 12 for $120 or the whole lot for $350. I’ll pay for postage anywhere in the US.
Let me see if these close-ups came out ok (and if I can pair them up). I painted one group with purple everywhere to be a kind of royal guard group.
The other two groups are pretty irregular. I didn’t pain them myself.
and this one
I have to lighten my load of projects that I thought I’d start, or started, and am never going to get to. I’m starting with a couple of kits I picked up. I’ll be adding some completed painted things soon.
I bought this Warlord Pz IV. It’s almost new in the box. I raided it for the antenna guard for the short barreled 75mm to use on another Pz IV. Otherwise everything is as it came. $20 + shipping.
And when they first came out I got one of their 251/10 halftracks. I started putting it together and even started painting it. That was what, two years ago? I realize I’m never going to get back to it. It is mostly in tact. I don’t see the pintle mount for the rear MG and the seated crewman is nowhere to be found. $15 + shipping.
Drop me a note if you’re interested.
